Sydney Hayslett

Founder & Executive Director

Sydney grew up in the Shenandoah Valley and first felt a call to serve survivors of sex trafficking as a 13 year old. It’s something God has written on her heart from a young age. Through high school and her time at Eastern Nazarene College, that call was magnified, and eventually led Sydney to working with three different safe homes serving this population. Most recently, she worked at Rest Stop Ministries in Tennessee. Here, she learned so much about this work and operated in many different capacities including Assistant Residential Manager, Volunteer Coordinator, and Community Engagement Manager. In 2019, she and her co-worker, Brittni, decided it was time to take what they had learned and replicate it. Sydney returned to Harrisonburg, VA in 2020 to do just that. Stone Haven is the culmination of a long-time dream.

Michelle Roberts

Case Manager

Michelle Roberts was born in New York City and has lived most of her life in the Shenandoah Valley. She received her Associates Degree in Human Services at Blue Ridge Community College and transferred to Mary Baldwin University where she received her Bachelor's Degree in Social Work. She worked at Gemeinschaft Home for five years where she ran the Women's Day Report Center. She later helped create the Women's Residential Recovery Home as the lead case manager for three years.

Michelle struggled with addiction for several years starting when she was just 15 years old. Recovery, relapse, faith, and rehabilitation are all a part of her story. Michelle knows firsthand how helpful the combination of programming and walking with Christ can be for women who have lived similar stories to hers. That's why she has pursued an education in social work and continues to look for ways to help those in need.

Michelle has been a board member with Stone Haven and a part of our program committee for since 2022 and has provided insight and perspective from her experience as both a case manager and a participant. She is excited to see what we can achieve at Stone Haven!

Brittni Gallup

Honorary Founder

Brittni grew up in West Tennessee and graduated from Evangel University in Springfield, Missouri.  She is a Registered Nurse with a background in ICU nursing.  Brittni was first exposed to the sexual exploitation industry in Bangkok, Thailand while on The World Race, an 11-month mission trip to 11 countries around the world.  From that point on, she could not unsee the sights and sounds of that prayer walk through the Red Light District.  Later that year, she worked with a safe home in Swaziland, walking with trafficking survivors through the process of healing and restoration.

When Brittni returned to the United States, she was offered an opportunity to join the staff of Rest Stop Ministries— an organization in Tennessee that houses and rehabilitates trafficking survivors.  Her staff roles included Medical Coordinator and Residential Manager over the course of three years.  She met Sydney at Rest Stop and they became close friends as they navigated the path of very challenging, heartbreaking, rewarding, fulfilling, and hopeful work of walking with survivors on their path to healing.

While Brittni’s path has taken a different direction than first anticipated, she is still an active participant in the planning process of Stone Haven. She has served a full term on the board and continues to be a sounding board for Sydney from afar. Brittni resides in Huntsville, AL while furthering her education and nursing career.
