Restoration for Survivors

The mission of Stone Haven has always been to walk with survivors of sexual exploitation in their journey of healing. We have done that through drop-in services in our community. That work has been so important and so needed. However, there is a missing piece.

The women we serve through these services tend to either be in the midst of a crisis, coming out of a crisis, or headed for a crisis. Chaos is usually lurking around a corner. Compounding this issue often is that she does not have safe, stable, and long-term housing. A safe place to sleep is never a guarantee. You can imagine it might be difficult to live a normal, day-to-day life while in this cycle of instability. Now imagine trying to work through deep seated trauma, mental health issues, or substance abuse (or all three!) on top of that.

It would be pretty near impossible to get your affairs in order and live a fully functioning life. Women in our community are faced with this dilemma every single day. We have sat with them, driven them to recovery meetings, helped them find therapy, bought their lunch.

What we haven’t been able to do is offer them a safe place to sleep. YET.

Our two-year residential program is planning to open this Fall! We will provide medical care, professional therapy, recovery support, job + life skills, and anything else they might need while they’re in our program. This program will serve survivors of sexual exploitation and trafficking in Harrisonburg, Rockingham County, and beyond.

The long-term care is such an important piece and is missing from a lot of the services available in our area. To have the time to rest and feel safe is so crucial to being able to fully heal. We want to be able to offer that safe + supportive community to come around her and empower her to move forward in freedom.

This has been the vision for Stone Haven since the beginning, and we’re so excited to see it coming to fruition. Our permitting with the county has been approved, and the only thing holding us back now is funding. Would you consider making a gift today to open our doors? We are just $40,000 short of our goal. Your support means the world to us! We can’t wait to serve our community in this way. Join us!
